Since 1981, “TOZA MARKOVIĆ” has been the host and patron of the International Sculpture Symposium “Terra”, a unique sculpture colony in the world. For almost 30 years, top artists have had the chance to express their creativity in the space of the old brick and tile factory, which dates back to 1905. The objects are located within the old circle of Toza Marković, and the artists who have had the opportunity to create in this place remain fascinated by his spirit, from which a special energy radiates.
The symposium takes place every year from July 1 to 31 and features six to eight artists. The artists’ obligation is to leave one monumental sculpture to the colony, as well as two gallery-format sculptures. So far, over 130 sculptors from 25 countries around the world have participated in the symposium, which gives this event a special importance.
The fact that it offers artists the opportunity to work on a monumental level is one of the key factors that make the Symposium so special, and this would not have been possible without the support of “Toza Marković”, who turned part of her former production space into a real art colony, and gave the artists the greatest gift – freedom of unhindered creation.
